MartialQuest

MartialQuest Academy

Welcome to the Quest!

Our Purpose:

It is our purpose to provide professional self defense instruction within our local community through a clear, practical, and organized curriculum that leads to personal growth and empowerment.

Our Vision:

MartialQuest and its associated academy is dedicated to teaching and promoting the art of Gracie (or Brazilian) Jiu Jitsu as an authentic form of self protection, empowerment, and healthy lifestyle.

As it has become increasingly popular since its first world-wide exposure in the Ultimate Fighting Championship by the Gracie family, the art and its practice has continuously become focused on the sportive aspects.  Although our practice will include sportive rounds of training, our focus has and always will be focused on the practical application of the art as a self defense method.

We have a curriculum approach to our training that is organized, planned, and designed to help all of our students achieve their goals. It is designed to build a solid foundation of technical skills and problem-solving abilities that will benefit many aspects of everyday life for our members.

Our Coach:

Tim Martin is the founder and head instructor of MartialQuest. A military veteran with over 27 years of service, Tim has been studying the martial arts since his childhood and is currently a brown belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu under Ricardo Bayona of Miloki Flow Key Biscayne.

Tim’s training in the martial arts began over 30 years ago while growing up in rural Georgia. In his teenage years he earned a Dan ranking in the international style of Tae Kwon-Do. Following his enlistment into the US Army in 1990, Tim continued to pursue his passion for training in the martial arts whenever and wherever possible. His martial arts experience has included instructor rankings in Genbukan Ninpo Taijutsu and Pukulan Pentjak Silat Serak. Additionally, Tim has studied the Russian Martial Art of Systema, Okinawan Karate, Filipino Martial Arts and Jun Fan Gung Fu through the lineage of Guro Dan Inosanto, and the Francis Fong – Jiu Wan lineage of Wing Chun while attending college near his hometown.

He began his jiu jitsu journey in 2007 at the Gracie Academy in Torrance, CA, and since that time has trained with many members of the Gracie and Machado families to further his understanding of jiu jitsu.  Today, he continues his training with Master Luiz Palhares at Jacksonville Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Jacksonville, Florida.

Tim’s passion for the martial arts also extends to sharing his training and experiences with others. It is his belief that the martial arts are a valuable vehicle for improving and developing oneself to reach their maximum potential. He sees it as a powerful, life-changing gift for all ages to teach empowerment, confidence, self defense, and overcoming adversity.

In 2017 Tim founded MartialQuest as a veteran-owned business to further his interests in the martial arts and provide visionary products and services to the public. Currently, he is focusing much of his attention on the design and development of the company’s products and services.
